Hi
General Archives of the Realm recently gave online access to ancient account books of Tournai.

The one going from 1 october 1635 to 30 september 1636, on folio xlj (41) is a mention of your ancestor Estienne Dailly.

Icÿ pour la ixe annee escheue a la St Remi xvjc trente six – ij lb.

From Estienne Dailly merchant chaufournier for the rent of three bonniers (about 1,5 sq. mile) meadows outside the Marvis door, on the path leading from Allain to the river, previously occupied by six various people, to him for the term and space of twelve continuous years for the price and sum of 200 lb Flanders under the conditions given by the rents book. Here for the ninth year expired at St Remi (1 october) 1600 thirty six – 200 lb

Chaufourniers are the ones turning stone to cement for construction. He probably rented those meadows to dig for limestone.

Probably it’s possible to find others mentions of him in those account books. But, it’s really not easy to read and understand.
